The art of l2-year~old Russian artist Olga Kaydanov will be exhibited March 19 – Apnl 5 in the Dnscoll University Center’s Founders Lounge. An opening reception for the artist is scheduled for March 25 from 6 – 8 p.m.

Critics have called Kaydanov’s fantastical paintings “an unusual combination of a child’s purity and freshness and the maturity and skill of an accomplished (adult) artist.”

Kaydanov, who was born in Russia in 1981, began studying art at the age of five-and-a-half with Richard May. Kaydanov’s work is shown in the Cendival Museum of Byelorussia and in international exhibitions in Poland, India, and Mozambique.

In May of 1990 several of herpaintings were shown in Moscow’s Tretiakov Gallery, the most prestigious gallery of the former Soviet Union.

In 1989, Kaydanov and her family left Russia to live in the United States. Her first solo exhibition in the U.S. was in 1990 at the Philip 3. Steele Gallery, Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. Her second exhibition in July 1990 was at the Jewish Community Center.

Kaydanov is a sixth grader at Loredo Middle School.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.
